Social Service professionals are selfless individuals that have devoted their lives to helping others. We have devoted our careers to helping you help others! We know that you guys are on the front lines; feeding the hungry, assisting victims, providing job training, helping develop todays youth into tomorrows leaders, acting as child advocates, maintaining fields and playgrounds, helping citizens recover from disasters, providing homes for the homeless, and doing countless other things to help others. As a social service based non-profit organization in Ohio, you are certainly doing all of that and more when it comes to helping your neighbor. You have a hard job without a doubt, and we couldn't imagine serving a full day in your shoes, so we don't want to tell you how to do your job, but we do want to help make your job easier! When it comes to making insurance purchasing decisions for your Ohio non-profit organization, we are an invaluable resource and we are here to help you!
What type of coverage do you need?
Some of the basic coverages to consider are general liability, property, umbrella or excess liability, auto, crime and fidelity, directors and officers, and professional liability. What if someone slips and falls on your property? Your general liability policy would address an incident like that. What if a storm came through and did some damage to your roof? Your property insurance would address that. What if someone sued you and it exceeded your general liability insurance limit? Your umbrella policy could potentially help you out. Does your non-profit have a fleet of vehicles or even a van or two that you use for work? Your auto policy should be able to help you out there. What if you discovered that an employee was stealing funds from your organization? Crime coverage should be able to address that for you. What if one of your board members had a conflict of interest and cost the organization money? Your directors and officers policy would address that scenario. Lastly, what if you gave out professional advice or services and you were later sued by a disgruntled patient or member? Your professional liability insurance would likely come into play there. These are some very basic and generic examples, but the more questions you ask prior to purchasing your non-profit insurance, they better the coverage will fit your needs and you won't be paying for extra insurance you will never use.
